September School

Here is just a quick recap of our September month of school that was not apple involved! :)

Here was an art lesson on mixing colors to make new colors. We also made rainbows to go with our Bible story of the day, Noah and the Flood.



Here is our PE time, walks (or bike rides) to the park to play!




As an update from our spring study on planting seeds, we finally have our first peppers of the season! We thought we had lost the plants completely, but they somehow survived!


This is one of the boys morning activities. I just cut up paint sample squares and they have to work on sorting and then sequencing them into darkest to lightest or lightest to darkest.

Okay, its no secret how much we love to read in our house. So one of the joys of home schooling this month was the shared love of reading which is passed down!

Thanks Aunt Reagan for this fun idea. We practiced our letters and numbers in shaving cream on the table this month.





We reviewed our phonics with a bean bag game. I say a letter sound and the boys race to throw their bean bag on the correct letter.



Some practice with some fine motor skills: lacing cards with Daddy.



Do you know how fun it is to hide decorative stones in play dough and try to count and find them all?



One of the books we are using for science has us going through the seasons and calendar. We are trying to do some fun activities for each season. For winter we had a cotton ball "snow ball" fight!



For Spring we helped out with a little spring cleaning!

For summer we played with water outside. Using sponges to have a water relay.



We also had a picnic to celebrate summer. Although that week it was SUPER rainy, so we picnicked inside!





Of course for fall we included our whole Apple unit study and field trip.

Gracie is learning lots too. She is still LOVING any puzzle she can get her hands on. She knows almost all her colors and is starting to count.

Grammy from Arizona sent us a huge box of fun school supplies this month. We love these dry erase marker workbooks that we can share and reuse!



The Sonlight curriculum that we are using has a Bible verse and corresponding character trait for each week. One week we studied being a "cheerful giver" and generosity. So, to act on what we are learning we made cookies to share with our neighbors.

Here Luke is practicing cracking an egg. He does a great job of egg cracking!



We did have to take a few sick days this month. But it was overall a fun month of learning for all.
