A Visit with Grammy

God's timing is perfect! When my Mom planned to come visit and help with the arrival of Isaac, we decided to have her come two weeks before our due date. Caleb was two weeks early, so we thought there was a good chance Isaac would arrive early as well. Well, Isaac arrived less than 12 hours after Grammy's flight landed at the airport! Like I said, God's timing is perfect. Grammy had a short sleep and enough time to hug and kiss on everyone and learn the morning routine before we were on our way to the hospital!

We know Grammy has so many responsibilities still at home, but we are ever grateful for the sacrifice of two weeks she gave to serve our growing family!

Grammy got lots of time to hug and cuddle her grandbabies # 7, 8, 12, 15, 18, and 23!

Grammy helped every morning with the morning routine so Mommy could get a few extra moment of much needed sleep. Grammy even had time to help fix Gracie's doll's hair. (A house of five brothers does not bode well for a doll's hair, we will leave it at that!)

Grammy made meals, played games, read books, helped with dishes and laundry and everything else imaginable to keep our house running while I was in the hospital or taking care of Isaac. It was so nice to have both my Hubby and my Mom helping me in so many ways! With Grammy in town, Jeff was able to drive us to our many postpartum bili check appointments without having to take all the kids! We even managed to have a belated anniversary date (with Isaac of course!)

Of course Grammy also tried to soak up as many newborn snuggles as possible! We tease Grammy because almost all of her visits to us have revolved around a new child/children. We hope that she will keep visiting us when our family is complete! :)

Grammy even got to play baseball outside with the oldest five when we had a few warm afternoons.

Grammy also helped us take some new family photos while she was here.

We love you Grammy. We miss you so much already and hate that we have to share you with the rest of the family!

Thank you for your generosity of time and special care of our family during this season. Thank you for the laughs, giggles, cuddles, memories, and especially for your words of encouragement. We love you.

2 weeks with our Isaac

It is hard to believe that we have now had Isaac with us for two weeks! It is even harder to remember that yesterday was our due date! Isaac is such a sweet mellow little guy. He sleeps and eats great for a newborn. We had ongoing issues with his Bilirubin. Thankfully the numbers have finally gone down, and so have all of our daily appointments with the pediatrician for checks. As of Monday, Isaac was up to 8 lb and 4 oz! We will not have an official 2 week check up since Isaac was just seen on Monday.

Isaac, like his older siblings, was flagged in his newborn screening with a cystic fibrosis gene. Unlike his siblings, he will not need a sweat test at UNC. The director of the program has decided that with the first three children only being carriers there is not enough concern to force us to go through the test again with Isaac! This is a huge answer to prayer since the test is so miserable to go through.

Luke, Ben, Gracie, Jacob and Caleb all adore their little brother. He has already become such a part of the family it is hard to imagine a time when he was not here. Caleb, of course, is having the hardest time adjusting to not being the baby and missing time with Mommy. But, Caleb still adores Isaac!

Here is a montage of photos of our first two weeks with this sweet boy!

Special Morning Celebration

This Sunday our family was able to celebrate a very special occasion! Luke and Ben had both asked to be baptized this winter. We decided to wait until the majority of their grandparents could be present. It was such a joyous celebration of their personal decisions to follow Christ and make that known to friends and family. It was even more special, because our pastor allowed Jeff to help baptize them!

False Alarm....

Okay, so we almost thought we would be introducing a new Morgan member to you today! Thankfully, it was a false alarm!

I made the mistake of working a twelve hour shift at the urgent care. It was their busiest day on record, and they had to close their doors early due to the massive volume of patients. Needless to say, nurses are notorious for being the worst at taking care of themselves. It wasn't until a coworker pointed out the situation that I realized I had been on my feet and working so hard and was having contractions of increasing intensity only three minutes a part! I was hoping I could go home and sleep it off and just get rest. With four babies in four years, and a history of quick labors, we headed to L&D just to be sure and get checked out. I am still a bit early, so we were really praying it would be a false alarm. Not to mention, after 12 hours on my feet, the thought of labor and then a newborn already while so tired was NOT appealing!

Hospital staff kept a close eye on me, and thankfully our prayers were answered. Once resting and off my feet things began to slow down and they gave me the option to go home.

So, needless to say, my working hours are over until several weeks after this little guy arrives! Thankfully Jeff's Mom was able to drive down from VA to help out with the kids, and our ever devoted friend Emily also came to help until Mom could arrive. Jeff's Mom is going to stay until my Mom arrives later this week.

Thank you for your continue prayers for a safe and healthy labor and delivery!

Very belated School Post

As you can probably tell by my lack of posts.....this has been a very busy year! Trying to accomplish school with a move, a pregnancy, and three very busy toddlers makes life interesting! Luke and Ben have really done so well this year, and are learning a ton. Mommy is just not as good at taking pictures and documenting all their hard work and fun!

In science we have continued with our study of flying creatures. We actually have all grown to love watching all the many kinds of birds in our backyard. The boys have also enjoyed lots of experiments learning about eggs. Their favorite was when they tried to crack an egg with their whole hand.

Thankfully, Caleb usually still takes morning naps, which allows us to have some uninterrupted morning time for school. During afternoon naps, Luke and Ben complete their afternoon work and get some free time with Legos without little siblings interfering!

We have finished up our first two of four units in our Tapestry of Grace studies. It has been a whirlwind through the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation. We will take a short break from TOG to get used to a newborn in the house soon. Then will will finish up our year with Crowns, Colonies and Revolutions!
