Back to the Mill

Since Jacob loves the old historic mill nearby (as do all of the kids), we decided to visit it again for his birthday. This time we actually got a tour of the inside of the mill built in 1756 which is still working! Fascinating!!

 

We even brought home some of the corn meal ground at this mill!

The mill had several jobs beyond just grinding corn. Absolutely ingenious the way they were able to harvest the power of that water for so many different uses!

Another site we plan to visit often!

Family Fun Day

This month we had an amazing family fun day. It was our first visit to the NC Transportation Museum! It was probably one of our favorite day trips so far. We knew the boys would be enthralled with the cars, planes, trucks, and trains, but so was Gracie!

Oh the trains! Simply amazing. The museum was full of fascinating details about life as a railroad worker.

The replica of the Wright brothers famous plane was pretty cool too.

There was also an exhibit of fire trucks.

But, the trains were by far the favorite!!

I have a feeling this is not the only time we will visit this fun spot!

Circus Train Party, All aboard!

Happy 4th Birthday to Jacob and Happy 1st Birthday to Isaac!! Since their birthdays are only four days apart we decided to do a duo circus train birthday cake to celebrate together!

We had to sing two times!

Just in case you were wondering....yes, Isaac did still look somewhat like a smurf on Sunday at church!

Both boys were surrounded by so much love and birthday well wishes from near and far!

Poor Caleb had a hard time of it with his closest in age brothers both getting a birthday celebration. He wants a March birthday too!

What else for a 1 yr old birthday boy but a train of course!

Jacob was absolutely thrilled with his own mp3 player and kid head phones. He loves music so much, he lit up when he turned them on and found they had the Nutcracker and Yankee Doodle already downloaded. His two favorite songs!

Now we get a few weeks of a break until our next birthday in May!
