The orchard was about 1.5 hours away, so here we are loaded up for our fun trip! Unfortunately Daddy could not join us because of his work schedule, so our good friend Emily came with us! I am brave and will take all four to the store, park, or library.....but I am not brave enough, (or crazy enough??) to go on a field trip by myself with all four!!
Jacob was happy to go along for the ride, but spent most of the trip actually in the Ergo carrier with Mommy.
The kids got to learn how the apples are picked, washed, sorted, and polished. We all got to try three different kinds of apples and voted on our favorite.
We also learned about how the orchard makes their yummy apple cider! There are two ways to make cider, the highly industrialized version shown here....
and the old fashioned version shown here!
All the kids got a turn chopping apples in the hopper and watching the apples get pressed into cider.
Enjoying the yummy fruits of their hard labor!
Next, we got to go on a hayride tour of the orchard.
Home school moment of joy for this month: being able to take your younger siblings on a field trip with you!
