Answer: Horned Tomato Caterpillars!
One day I went out to water our tomato plants, and both looked healthy and well. The next morning we woke up to find one of the plants completely devastated. I couldn't think what would have been able to get into our yard to eat our plant. Well, Daddy went outside to investigate and found these voracious creatures, five of them, ate our entire plant in 24 hours!
We pulled out Luke's nature guide book, our handy go-to manual, to look up creatures and discovered that we had horned tomato caterpillars!
So, although we did not get to study caterpillars and butterflies this summer as planned, we did have fun learning about these creatures. We did not bring them inside, as these caterpillars bury themselves in the ground for the winter to emerge as moths in the spring.

Oh no! Unbelievable! We are battling bald faced hornets, carpenter bees and millipedes...bad summer for critters! Hope you saved your second plant!
Some small green caterpillars did the same thing to every single one of our broccoli plants, though it took them a little longer. So sad!
NO not the tomato plant! It was looking so good. At least you all learned something new out of it :)
