School in progress...

 It has been a bit since our last school update. I don't seem to have as many pictures lately. We have been so busy "doing school" I don't always have time to stop and take pictures.  As a side note, I have to tell you in advance.....it looks like all of these pictures were taken on the same day. They were not. All the kids have had huge growth spurts this winter and when Spring hit, I put away most of their winter clothes that were too small. Well, silly me....we have had two plus more weeks of unusually cold weather. Hence the fact that my poor children look like they only have one or two sets of clothes. Ha! :) We are all more than ready for some spring weather (and clothes)!


 One thing is for certain, in the Morgan school we do a LOT of reading!

All year we have watched and waited for the opportunity to use our safety goggles in our science experiment kit. We finally got to use them making a rocket! Of course, we only had one set so we had to share and wear sunglasses too.

The actual liftoff was less than spectacular, and the safety goggles were a bit overkill.....but we still had fun. :) Daddy's now on a mission to provide the kids with a more successful rocket launch. (All for the sake of science, of course!)

This has been a fun year to study astronomy. There have been asteroids and meteors making the news. Jupiter was visible during the day this month, and there was a comet this month as well. We were never actually able to see the comet but we have fun watching the news and looking at pictures. All things I would have not really thought twice about outside of teacher mode!

We have continued to enjoy our family read aloud time. Recently we finished up one of our Sonlight choices, Twenty and Ten by Claire Huchet Bishop. Both of the boys loved this book, and Grandma even read it when she came to visit. It always surprises me which stories will be favorites for which son. This was Ben's favorite read a loud book all year. While he loves reading, he is more active and won't generally ask for a book during play time. This one was different. He kept begging all weekend long to finish it. Interesting, because it deals with some pretty heavy topics (Nazi's, Jewish children in hiding, etc.) Of course at this age, we don't delve too much into the details, but this true story has a happy ending, thankfully!
