In May for Luke's birthday, our sweet friends Andy and Emily got him a pretend sushi chef set, and a Sushizi (a clever little device that allows you to make real sushi rolls in your own home!)
Well, we have meant for months to try it out but since it is rather time consuming we have not found the time. We finally bought ingredients and Jeff and I set to work one Saturday night to have everything ready to surprise the kids for Sunday lunch. Next time, the boys will help make their own sushi, but for the first round of trial and error it was a a job for Mom and Dad.
Mommy did all the chopping and preparing and Daddy was our sushi chef.
The rolls turned out pretty good, they will be even better next time now that we have had practice!
All four of our kids LOVED Sunday lunch! We had Singapore rice noodles with stir fry chicken and veggies, garden salad with ginger dressing, edamame, and sushi rolls. Yummy!
I must say, it would be way easier to let our favorite restaurant take care of all the work, but it was fun to learn!
