Family Field Trip (Day 2)

Day two of our family field trip was to Historic Jamestown. The recreated Jamestown settlement was full of interesting things to see.

As a part of the homeschool week, we were able to participate in a two hour tour of the settlement. Since we had just recently finished studying Jamestown, it was fun to see it all come to life for Luke and Ben.

We started the tour with a trip to the recreated ships that originally landed in Virginia in 1607.

Our Jacob is not in the least bit shy. He found himself a buddy in the tour guide

Then we toured the fort, complete with a musket demonstration.

We learned about the first form of representative government in the New World.

Discussing the building techniques used at James Fort.

Next we visited the recreated Powhatan Village.

We learned about how that Powhatan Indians lived and worked.

It was our first field trip with Morgan cousins who are also homeschooled! Uncle Tim had to work, but it was a fun morning together.

After our tour we had a picnic lunch.

After lunch we headed back into Jamestown to do a bit of exploring on our own without the tour guide.

Stay tuned for day three of our family field trip!
