Family Field Trip (Day 1)

Living on the East Coast is a homeschooling dream! We love that there are so many options for family field trips. When Aunt Gentry was visiting us, we were able to join Jeff's parents and brother's family for Homeschool Days at Historic Jamestown and Yorktown in Virginia!

We headed to Yorktown for first day of our trip.

We were able to witness an incredibly loud artillery demonstration!

They also had a fun display of traditional Colonial games to try out!

The hoop rolling was a definite favorite!

After a demonstration of the games, it was back to the real work of farming and cooking!

There was a neat cooking demo, although it made us sweat just to watch this poor lady in layered clothing over the very hot fire!

It's a good thing we have a lot of sons for all this heavy work!

After all that work and play we were ready for a nice meal and some rest!

We had a fun first day at Yorktown! Stay tuned for the rest of our field trip adventures!
