April School Round-up

Here is a quick round-up of April school and comings and goings around the Morgan household.

This month Daddy and his many helpers built a raised garden bed to continue our March study on planting and growing! The kids had a blast helping Daddy with this project!

This month we focused our unit study on Resurrection/New Life and Butterflies. We have watched the metamorphosis of butterflies several times over the years, but it was the first time for the youngest crew. Some of our favorite library books this month included: Isabel's House of Butterflies, Hedgehugs and the Hattipillar, and Are You a Butterfly. Our main Bible verse was II Corinthians 5:17.

Gracie and Jacob kept Butterfly journals all month, journaling their observations.

We also were learning about the difference between kinematics and dynamics while studying Thomas Bradwardine  in science.
Bella update: Bella is thriving and growing and quite the puppy handful. She currently weighs just shy of 47 pounds!

All of the kids can get a bit intimidated by Bella when she is in her most active moods. Let's be honest, almost 50 pounds of puppy energy can be a bit intimidating for anyone. Thankfully, Isaac and Caleb have discovered she can not yet reach them if they sit on the table!

Silly Bella thinks you are supposed to sit on tables now!

Of course our favorite past time to keep busy is playing in water!

We learned about symmetry while painting butterflies.

Next in science we learned about the center of gravity from Albert of Saxony!

Release day for our butterflies:

Learning about graphing science experiment results from Nicole Oresme:

This was a favorite science lessons since it used skittles!

Playing with out butterfly sensory pasta had to be done with gloves, as no matter what we tried we could not get the pasta to fully dry after dying it! Rotini caterpillars, small shell chrysalises, and bowtie butterflies made up the mix!

In history we have continued to study Rome. This month we focused on engineering feats and how the advancements of the Roman empire and roads set the perfect stage for the spread of the Gospel in the early church.

We even made our own Roman aqueduct!

On to our last month of school and the study of hardworking ants!
