In hindsight, we wish Jeff would have taken a day off work during the week to go to the scheduled "school days," instead of going on a weekend. There was a bit too much non family friendly activity for our tastes (alcohol and tobacco consumption). Thankfully our children did not seem to notice.

Our first must-see event was the jousting tournament!

Okay, I just think this picture is funny. There is actually one child in this picture that does not belong to us, but he fits in nicely! :)
Next was a glass blowing demonstration. We only got to stay for part of this since Caleb and Jacob were not in the mood to sit and watch a long presentation before lunch.
The boys loved getting to see in action so many things they have been reading about recently in school.

We walked back to our car for a tailgate picnic.
Thankfully there was at least one free ride for us to enjoy!
Probably our favorite presentation was the Birds of Prey: Art of Falconry. These birds were amazing!! The boys eyes just lit up as they were able to put together things they had learned in history with our recent study of birds.
This is my attempt at catching the falcon in mid-flight. They fly so fast it is incredible!
Trying on some armor
There was so much to see it was overwhelming. At some point along the day Ben said, "I didn't know grown-ups played dress up too!"
We did let the kids try a whole roasted Turkey leg. This thing just about fed our whole family!
Even Caleb got in on the Turkey action. He loved it!
Of course once we got home the kids had to play dress up themselves right away with their new swords and hair decoration for Gracie!
I'm telling you, this is one highly protected princess!!
Overall it was a very fun family day of hands on learning!

These feild trips crack me up with the perfect timing of how they coordinate with your schooling. Each and every one of the kids stands amazed at all this learning stuff right in front of their eyes! They will never forget this learning. The big Turkey legs crack me up as well..almost bigger than them. Such fun times..wish we could be there to enjoy them with you! Hugs and Kisses to all from Grammy!!
