This week was an important anniversary celebration for our family! Five years ago we first met and brought home our oldest sons, Luke and Ben, from Ethiopia! Has it really been five years???
To celebrate we went and played at a park.
We also went and enjoyed Ethiopian food, our family tradition. This really is such a highlight for our family, and the food is delicious too!
This is always such a fun time. The Ethiopian women who were cooking made such a fuss over all of the kids. They even decided to do a full Ethiopian coffee ceremony for us! (Hence the smoky pictures, they roast the coffee beans right in front of you and burn incense.....Mommy's poor asthma lungs!)
She watered down the coffee for the boys, and they loved it! If you have never tried Ethiopian coffee before, it is very strong and thick. The boys were bouncing off the walls for the rest of the night even with it watered down!
Afterwards we got to enjoy a sweet treat, Ritas! We joke as a family that most other families just get holidays and birthdays to celebrate. It is pretty special that God brought Luke and Ben into our family and gave us an extra day to celebrate!

...and none of us will ever be the same since the Lord gave Luke an Ben to all of us! What a PRECIOUS GIFT from our most Glorious Father! Thank you, Lord!
Happy anniversary! So glad that you brought them home and have such fun celebrating! We'd love to get together and see you guys sometime soon!
I am so glad you have such a fun family tradition to celebrate Luke and Ben's arrival into our big family! I hope our kids will get to experience an Ethiopian meal one day with you, so that we know a little more about the birthplace of our cousins! Love you!
So happy to have these precious boys in our family for five years now! Love you Luke and Ben! Hopefully soon we will have another "gotcha day" family day of celebration. Where will we find a Ukrainian restaurant???
